What is Afterpay?

Afterpay allows you to pay over time in various ways. Pay in 4 lets you pay for your items in 4 payments over 6 weeks, interest free when you pay on time.

At Midas, we’ve partnered with Afterpay so that cost is never a reason to delay essential car maintenance. Whether you need a logbook service, new tyres, brake repairs, or a full mechanical check, Afterpay makes it easy to manage the expense without a lump sum upfront. 

How Afterpay Works at Midas

Using Afterpay at Midas is simple. Here’s how it works: 

  1. Book your car service – online or in store at a participating Midas centre.
  2. Choose Afterpay at checkout – select Afterpay as your payment method when booking online or let our team know in store. 
  3. Pay in 4 instalments – your total is split into four equal payments over 6 weeks, interest free when paid on time. 
  4. Drive away today-your car is serviced now. Afterpay handles the rest.

How to get started with Afterpay

Paying with Afterpay is easy. Download the Afterpay app from the App Store or Google Play to get started. 

To set up an Afterpay account you’ll need to: 

  • Live in Australia or New Zealand 
  • Be over 18 years of age 
  • Have an Australian or New Zealand debit or credit card 
  • Have a valid and verifiable email address and mobile number 
  • Be capable of entering into a legally binding contract 
  • Credit checks apply

Are There Any Fees? 

Afterpay caps Pay in 4 late fees to help keep costs manageable for customers who miss a payment. Pay in 4 late fees will never exceed 25% of the order total or $68 per order, whichever is lower.

How this works for Pay in 4:

 
  • For orders under $40: A one-time late fee of up to 25% of the order total applies
  • For orders of $40 or more: A $10 Pay in 4 late fee is charged when a payment is missed. If the outstanding amount remains unpaid after seven days, an additional $7 Pay in 4 late fee applies. This is the same for all late payments until the 25% cap or $68 amount is reached. To remain within the cap, we may charge partial amounts of the $10 and $7 fees.
  • You can check the Pay in 4 Schedule for other late fee caps that may apply.
  • Afterpay is committed to doing everything they can to help you not miss a payment, including sending you payment reminders. For Pay in 4, we also offer options to reschedule eligible upcoming payment dates.

 

Is Afterpay Accepted In-Store? 

You can use Afterpay at participating Midas service centres in store. Here’s how: 

  • Download the Afterpay app and set up your Afterpay Card via the ‘In-Store’ tab 
  • Add it to your digital wallet – Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay 
  • When you’re ready to pay at the Midas service desk, simply tap to pay 

To use Afterpay when booking online, select Afterpay as your payment method at checkout and you’ll be redirected to complete your payment through the Afterpay platform.

Is Afterpay safe to use?

Afterpay has been built with a range of security features and services to help keep your accounts secure, including monitoring transactions to identify fraudulent trends and behaviours, multi-factor authentication, and encryption to protect your information. What Happens if I Need a Refund? 

Items purchased with Pay in 4 can be returned for an exchange or refund, subject to Midas’ Returns Policy. Returns or refunds will be processed and Afterpay will be advised. Your payment schedule will then be adjusted to reflect the new total order value. If you have already made a payment, this will be refunded to you via Afterpay.
